Sophie is finally ready to reveal WHERE she took her dad for the weekend.
Friday after work (actually during work hours) Sophie and I hopped in the car and headed ......... SOUTH - to BAKERSFIELD California!! There we ate a grand meal of pancakes and eggs at a fancy restaurant named Denny's, gassed up the car, and ........... headed even further SOUTH - Destination DISNEYLAND!!!!!
We were EXTREMELY LUCKY and got to stay at the CASA de JEFF - Huntington Beach's finest 6 star resort! (Thank you Jeff)
All I can say about Sophie is - "what a TROOPER!"
The day started out early but then tragedy struck .... Daddy doesn't really know how to do Sophie's hair. The first pig tail was somewhat easy - but getting that second one in was killer. About half an hour later - this was as good as it was going to get (hopefully she moves her head around a lot and no one can tell the difference).
Here we are on the tram going to the park.
Excited about our first ride of the day (it's a small world)
Sophie saw this doggie from a distance and was excited, but then when we got closer she didn't know what to think.
Not sure if this was lunch or dinner - which ever one it was - it was delicious!!!!
Us before going into the 3D show "honey I shrunk the audience."
For those of you who don't know, Sophie LOVES SHOWS!!!
However - she's not a huge fan of the 3D type. She kept her glasses on which surprised me. The first time a 3D image jumped out at her she FREAKED OUT (it was pretty hilarious - poor thing) She ripped her glasses off and said "NO, NO!!"
Daddy managed to put them back on her right before an even SCARIER 3D image appeared (at which time she decided she HATED the glasses and would not be putting them back on).
Here we are at the Walt/Mickey statue in front of the castle - for those of you who don't know where this is - come and visit us - we'll gladly take you there too.
Sophie riding the carousel.
After 15 plus hours - Sophie finally checked out. Flat Stanley was still goin strong!
About 1:30 AM at the parkade - last vehicle left.
The next few days we chilled with Jeff, Brooke, Nate, Siyah and Ollie. Thanks once again for the party. On Monday we went to a new park in Costa Mesa. Sophie and Siyah loved playing at the park and chasing the ducks.
Not sure what I'm doing - but at my age the camera adds 10 lbs (of ugliness) - unless you're a cute little girl!
Sophie and Siyah giving each other loves before going goodbye.
After 3 days of kickin it - me saying goodbye to my date - now for the 6 hour car ride home.
Thanks Sophie - Daddy had the time of his life.

Hey, good job with the pigtails...but Sophie is ALWAYS cute.
Oh my gosh it looks like you had a fun time! Now I want to go to Disneyland! Happy Birthday Griff!
You're a pretty awesome dad Griff! What fun memories you are making for you and little Sophie!
This is one of the sweetest posts ever! It almost brought tears to my eyes, but I am fighting them off. Happy Birthday Griff! I'm glad you two had such a great time. I'm sure you'll never forget it. By the way you take the best one handed self portraits ever!
When Jess said you had left Friday morning for a secret adventure road trip...I was so worried because you hadn't made it to our house yet...we guessed you went to the second happiest place on earth. Looks like you and Soph had a great trip- and seriously- what a little trooper!
Well Griff, it sure is good to see that Sophie is treating you alright, what a great way to spend some precious time with her while she was your "one & only". Man your lucky Jess didn't pop on your little trip. Happy Birthday Griff. Thinking about you from up here in the frozen north.
